The warthog is a member of the pig family. It inhabits Africa's grasslands, from Senegal down to South Africa. The creature has distinctive warts on its face and it feeds by kneeling down. They generally have about two piglets and the gestation period is about six months. Their main predators include lions, crocodiles, leopards and African Rock Pythons. The warthog is not truly territorial but instead it occupies a home range.

The warthogs make numerous appearances in The Wild Thornberrys. In the beginning, some act hostile towards Eliza and Darwin.
