Jaguars are large jungle cats found in "The Wild Thornberrys".
Appearance
The jaguar, weighing at 300 pounds, is the third largest cat after the lion and tiger. Its yellow coat is covered with rosettes. Each rosette has a black dot in the middle.

In Reality
Jaguars live in the rainforests of Central and South America. Their name means "an animal which catches its meal using only one pounce". Like their tiger cousins, they love the water. Jaguars live and hunt alone. After a male and female spend a few days together when they mate, three months later, the female gives birth from 1 to 4 cubs. Jaguars hunt peccaries, caimans, tapirs, capybaras, turtles, fish, and monkeys. Unlike all cats, the jaguar kills its prey with a single bite to the skull. It tends to grunt, snarl, cough, and growl instead of roar. Jaguars live 12 to 15 years in the wild. They're endangered mainly because of their fur and habitat destruction.

When Eliza and Darwin travel through Manaus, they find a jaguar named Raamba trapped in a pit. Eliza lowers a log so the cat can get out.
Later, a group of jaguars surround Eliza and Darwin and congratulate the girl for helping Raamba. They tell her that when she helps one of them, she helps all of them.
After opening a temple and playing go fish with the cats, Eliza apoligizes for making up a story about being a princess.
