Mongooses are small carnivorous mammals that live in the forests and grasslands of Africa and Asia. Species of these animals include the meerkat, marsh mongoose and Indian Grey mongoose. They prey on creatures like scorpions, insects, rodents and as a particular delicacy, snakes such as cobras, black mambas, puff adders and vipers. Mongooses are highly social, meaning they can see off predators and hunt together. They are also resistant to the venom of snakes and scorpions.
